Ganymede

Ganymede

GanymedeGanymede is seen as a patron deity for Same-Sex relationships as he is known as the Cupbearer and lover of Zeus, of whom is the King of the Olympian Deities in the Greek Pantheon. Ganymede tends to be depicted as a young man who is around the age of 19 who has either short blond or curly blond hair. He is often seen with an eagle that represents Zeus.

Being known as the male lover of Zeus, Ganymede helps all who call upon him for help in coming to terms with one’s sexuality – particularly with homosexuality. It is Ganymede’s wish to help anyone and everyone that is going through this struggle. As he does so, he can help everyone see that they are loved by God just as they are.

As such, Ganymede helps many to find joy in who they are by showing that they have an important role to play in this world. As the Cupbearer of the King of the Olympians, Ganymede pours out the wine to make sure that there is nothing poisonous or dangerous in the wine. This has been an important role throughout time as this was the most common way that leaders were assassinated. Hence the importance of this role.

Whilst the roles that many people have in this world may not seem as important, or even as glamorous as this, it is Ganymede’s hope to help everyone see that even the smallest of tasks and assigned or chosen roles are important. He encourages everyone to look upon their lives as something that is important and to find value in all that one does. All anyone needs to do is ask for Ganymede to help and he will be right there to assist.

Whilst Ganymede holds each of his roles close to his heart, he respects everyone’s Free Will and as such will not act unless one asks for the help. As such, a prayer is an ideal way to ask for his and God’s help. An example of a prayer that can be utilised is:

‘Dearest God and Ganymede, I ask that you come to me now and help me to accept myself exactly as I am for I know that I am loved by you, exactly as I am. For this, I give thanks. Amen.’

A simple, yet very effective in bringing forth their assistance and help. Though it is very important to always remember to give thanks for all that they do.

With such help being bestowed upon anyone and everyone from God and Ganymede, accepting and loving one’s self is made easier. This is especially the case when battling with one’s sexuality. Even if one is comfortable and happy with how they are, it is a good thing to stop every now and then and give thanks to God and Ganymede for all the help they give.
